Welcome to the exploration of the Self

“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” Carl Jung

Hi! My name is Allison Lange, LCSW.

I am a LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ related concerns, gender identity, sexuality and sexual identity, trauma and PTSD.

I approach the treatment of trauma in an explorative and non-threatening manner. I focus on normalizing feelings to decrease the sense of isolation that trauma can create. In order to heal, the body, namely the nervous system, must learn to feel “safe”. It is my aim to foster an environment that helps support this type of healing.

I don't view trauma as this big scary thing that has “damaged” a person. I find exploring our past wounds helps us establish a softer and kinder view towards ourselves as we learn self compassion and self love.

I believe in the importance that connection has as it relates to healing, and I do my best to foster an environment for safe connection with my clients.

I am a bit, unconventional, when it comes to an therapeutic approach as I really value playfulness, crudity, and expletives as a foundational approach to expression.

My aim is to make our shared space as comfortable and free as possible, and sometimes I even encourage things like stomping as a somatic therapeutic intervention in session!

Self exploration is hard and scary work, and it takes great courage to take the leap. I’m so happy that you are here!
